People Talk.
The Biblical account of Ruth includes the reputation she built.
Boaz describes it this way, “And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been showed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity and art come unto a people which thou knewest not,” (Ruth 2:11).
People talk…good things and bad things. False accusations and current assessments.
People spoke well of Ruth. Her sacrificial attitude and dedication to preserving and maintaining the life of her widowed mother-in-law was a known fact in the community. Obviously, she had not even dated or bonded with any of the young men in
the city—poor or rich. Her total focus was on Naomi.
